Top 5 product comparison tools in 2026
If you want to extend your shop with a comparison tool or if you are looking for a good alternative from what you are already using, check out this article to compare the top 5 product comparison tools.
5. Comparison Tables
Comparison Tables by Common Ninja is an affordable comparison widget that can be added to any website. To use it you will need to manually create a table and specifications for every comparison you'd like to make. For small shops selling only a few items this could work, if you manage a larger shop this is not the widget you want.
Pro's:
+ Cheap
Con's:
- Manual work
4. Pretty Comparisons
With Pretty Comparisons you can easily add a comparison table to a Shopify shop. The specifications need to be entered manually so you have full control over the contents of the comparison but this comes at a cost when you have a lot of products.
Pro's:
+ True to it's name
Con's:
- Specifications must be added and updated manually
- Shopify only
3. Equate
Equate by Softpulse Infotech is an easy to install Shopify app that provides visitors with a somewhat outdated UI that works to show spefications side-by-side but not much more. The app requires payment right after installing so unfortunately we couldn't try it out for ourselves.
Pro's:
+ Not too expensive
Con's:
- Shopify only
- Outdated UI
2. Advanced Product Comparison
Advanced Product Comparison is a WooCommerce extension providing shoppers with the option to easily compare multiple products side-by-side, evaluating features, prices, and specifications. The extension is free and offers some nice features like the option to show popular comparisons on the comparison page (although these need to be picked manually by an admin) and the option to share a comparison with friends or social media.
Pro's:
+ Cheap
Con's:
- WooCommerce only
1. Smart Comparison Widget
The Smart Comparison Widget from Whitebox Solutions brings product comparisons to a new level by adding customised buying guidance to every comparison. It's certainly not the cheapest on this list, but the extra cost is easily justified by the fact that product specifications are pulled in and categorised automatically so there is no extra work for the webshop admin to enter or maintain product specifications.
Adding it to a webshop is fairly simple, and with the upcoming Shopify app (currently in review) this would even become a task any shop admin can handle theirselves.
Pro's:
+ Works on any platform
+ Automatic collection and processing of product specifications
+ Custom buying guidance, dependent on the compared products
Con's:
- Not the cheapest
- No Shopify app yet
